Samuel Ray McMahan
Bass Fiddle & Chief of the Group

I was born February 5, 1963 in Sylva, NC. I grew up in church all of my life and would have had it no other way. I have always enjoyed southern gospel music and never dreamed that I could be interested in the bluegrass sound. My wife has always been a bluegrass fan and when the kids became interested in the different instruments I quickly grabbed the bass and began picking!!
I taught school and was the administrator for Victory Christian School for several years. I also coached basketball for 17 years, retiring after, finally, a state championship win. I decided to see just where this music adventure would take our family. I have greatly enjoyed my decision to start a music group. What better way to spend time with my family.
It has been a real blessing to see my kids enjoy what they do. I never have to push them to practice, they love to sit and pick. Time passes so quickly when you get to do what you love the most.
We want everyone to know we are doing this music for the Lord. We give all the praise and glory to Him for what He has given us. Our prayer is that we are able to encourage people to continue to serve Him and to see those that need Him as their Savior to turn to Him.
Thank you for your interest in Mountain Faith. We appreciate your prayers.

Summer McMahan
Fiddle * Mandolin * Vocals

Hello! My name is Summer. I was born on July 1, 1993 in Sylva, North Carolina. I came into the world with my mouth moving, and thank God it hasn't stopped yet!
I love music. My main instrument is the fiddle, but I love the mandolin too. I have played the fiddle three years and the mandolin for one year. I have won a few local competitions with my fiddle and mandolin. The biggest funnest win was our most recent group win. Mountain Faith won "The Battle of the Bluegrass Bands" competition July 31st in Andrews, NC at the Cherokee Jamboree Music Hall. That win was awesome. I never dreamed we could beat grown-ups.
I enjoy playing volleyball. I love to kneeboard at the lake and swim. But my favorite thing in the world to do is make things like necklaces or sewing, anything crafty.
I am glad to say that my salvation is the greatest thing I posses. I would like to encourage young people to accept the Lord as their Savior early in their lives so that they can serve Him a whole lifetime. I thank the Lord for giving me so many blessings.

Brayden McMahan
Banjo * Fiddle * Vocals

I was born July 7, 1994. You would never know it now, but I was a preemie and was thought to have severe heart trouble at birth. Today I enjoy life to the fullest!!
I play banjo and fiddle. I love the banjo best. Music is probably my most favorite thing to do. I love the old-time bluegrass. Earl Scruggs is a hero for me. My favorite song is "Jimmy Brown". And I love to pick "Foggy Mountain Breakdown".
I also enjoy playing baseball. Really I like any sports to play. I also enjoy being outside playing with my confederate soldiers or fishing.
I have enjoyed playing in my band, Mountain Faith. I love to travel and meet new people. I can be a little shy, but I really like to get to know people.
I hope that I can encourage kids my age to first of all serve the Lord and second, find whatever talent they have to use it for the Lord. I am thankful that I have been saved. And I hope that any kids that listen to us see the need for salvation.
Thank you for checking out our website!!!!!!

John Robert Morgan
Guitar * Vocals

I was born August 8, 1995 to my parents, Bob & Tammy Morgan. I want to follow God's perfect plan for my life as I grow. My parents feel I'm a special gift from God.
I love all sports! I have played on both basketball & baseball teams and I enjoy the fun and competition. I practice with my dad, Bobby, who also loves sports.
I am very close to all of my grandparents and enjoy spending time with them. My Grandpa & Grandma Brady and Papaw and Grandmother McMahan are my #1 fans.
I enjoy outdoor activities too, such as camping, fishing, swimming and target practicing. My interest in music was evident when all I wanted to do was listen to CDs while riding in the car. I enjoyed trying to sing along, especially with the harmony parts. I always wanted to sit near the piano in church, so I could watch Uncle Mickey play.
In the fall of 2002 I began taking guitar lessons. I was hooked! I learned chords easily and began adding lead notes and runs.
I began playing with Uncle Sam and my cousins, Summer and Brayden in Mountain Faith in early 2003. We are having a great time singin' & pickin' for audience of all ages. My first love is guitar, but I love playing mandolin and the bass.
I consider my talent to come from the Lord and I pray that I will always use my talents to bring praise and honor to the Lord!
