3/1/2008 You are invited to the best deal in bluegrass music. Beginning in June, every second Saturday of the month, through October 2008, some of the best groups in bluegrass and bluegrass gospel will gather at the Old Tomato farm on Greens Creek Road in Sylva North Carolina for a day filled with music and clean fun. The Ole' Mater Farm Fest (formally the Balsam Mtn. Jamboree) will host the event which raises money for the Make-A-Wish foundation for the 20th year. The event moved last year from indoors to the farm just three miles outside of Dillsboro (home of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad). Admission to the festival is $10 per person. 13 and under are admitted free. The events will begin at noon each day and will end around 9:30 p.m. A great concession stand will be available with some of the best food around.
Sam and Sandra McMahan along with a wonderful host of volunteers invite you to come and see if you don't agree that the Mater Farm Fest is the best deal going in bluegrass. You get ALOT for your money!
We have always wanted to provide a place with good clean fun for the family. Therefore we absolutely do not allow any alchohol or drugs on the premises.
Another unique part of the festival is it's lineup that accomodates all kinds of bluegrass fans. In the early afternoon and early evening you can enjoy clean traditional bluegrass music and clogging. If you like bluegrass gospel music, our second half of the day is filled with all gospel sets and each evening set allows for the audience's children to gather onstage to sing a song.
We promise that you will greatly enjoy our festival Browse www.mountainfaithmusic.com and check out all the dates and the talent lineup. You might want to come to all of them!
Last year after all debt obligations were made, the festivals profited $2,100 for the Make-A-Wish foundation. If you are interested in donating food, paper products, money etc. to help promote the festivals, please call Sam at 631-0808, 399-0328 or 586-0886. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on the farm!
